2024 Annual General Meetings

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network of Australia and New Zealand is holding it’s 2024 General Meetings on Saturday 9 November 2024There will be a Special General Meeting (SGM) to vote on changes to our rules, followed by the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

If you are interested in Autistic self advocacy, we invite you to attend; this is an opportunity to meet other members, learn what we are doing, and vote. We will be voting on changes to our rules (constitution) and electing Board Members!

What time is the SGM and AGM?

Here is the time for the SGM and AGM on Saturday 9th November 2024 in each Australian and New Zealand time zone. There will be a short comfort break at the end of the SGM so start times for the AGM are approximate.

Purpose of the Meetings

Special General Meeting (SGM)

The purpose of the meeting is to vote on proposed changes to our rules (the Constitution).

In summary, the proposed changes are:

  • Rename membership types to Autistic members and Ally members
  • Create tiered Board by adding Associate Board Memberships

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The purpose of the meeting is to be the Annual General Meeting and for members to vote on the election of Board Members.

Life Members

We are pleased to advise that our Board has recommended our Founding Members, Katharine Annear, Tony Langdon and Geraldine Robertson for Life Membership of ASAN AUNZ. To become a Life Member of ASAN AUNZ requires a 2/3 majority vote at our AGM.

Accessibility Information

We will host the meeting as a webinar using Microsoft Teams. This allows for:

  • Auto-captions
  • Presentations (with ability to zoom in on the screen)
  • Voting using Opinion Stage (with QR codes)
  • Reactions, Raised hands, Chat and Q&A

We will start the meeting with cameras and microphones turned off for attendees to reduce data volumes for those with limited connectivity.

At ASAN AUNZ we respect our members’ right to the privacy of their personal information. We have policies and procedures to ensure all personal information, no matter how or where it is obtained, is handled sensitively and securely. Your personal information is protected by law, and we handle it in accordance with National Privacy Principles.

Purpose of collecting your information

When you register for a webinar, your personal information is collected by ASAN AUNZ for the purpose of registering and communicating with you in relation to the webinar, and to confirm your membership status and eligibility to vote. We do not use it to contact you other than for the main purpose for which we have collected your personal details.

Recording, transcriptions and AI

When you register for the webinar, you acknowledge that the webinar may be recorded in order to provide services such as captioning, transcriptions and support accessibility tools, including the use of AI. These recordings are not a formal record of the event and should not be relied on.

Use of AI and other tools

ASAN AUNZ promotes the ethical use of AI and supports Australia’s AI Ethics Principles. Our meetings are recorded by people, and any transcriptions or summaries generated are reviewed by people who attended the meeting before forming part of our meeting minutes.

No obligation to disclose

Generally, you are not required to provide any information that we request. If you choose to withhold the information however, we may not be able to provide you with the services that depend on the collection of that information. For example, if you do not provide your name and email, and answer some questions, you may not be able to register, attend or vote at the webinar.

Disclosure of your personal information

ASAN AUNZ takes measures to ensure your personal information is protected from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, disclosure or alteration. We also take measures to destroy personal information when it is no longer required. We do not provide your details to other organisations for any purpose other than facilitating the webinar you are registering to attend.
