Board Member
He/Him

Dave is a 63 year old person who joined the Board at ASAN AUNZ in early 2024, 5 months after receiving a formal diagnosis of autism (Level 2). He retired from a career of close to 30 years with Western Australia Police Force in August 2022.  A career that included Prosecuting in Magistrates courts, exercising advocacy for victims of crime, disadvantaged people, and rehabilitative advocacy for offenders.

Dave was also heavily involved in Emergency Management at the local government level where participation on committees provided opportunities to engage with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, learning along the way to build a diverse skillset in planning, managing, leading, and directing resources in wide ranging scenarios.

Dave also joined community based organisations, community resource centres and visitors centres whilst being the Officer In Charge of several Police Stations in regional WA.  The opportunity to learn and contribute on the various committees provided insight into the volunteer mindset and a greater appreciation for the people who selflessly go out of their way to help others in their communities, because they want to.

Advocacy and the genuine desire to help others brought Dave to ASAN AUNZ. ‘
